TXT MESSAGES: FROM DUMBO (proposal) 2007
Journals will be given to neighborhood children and residents to document their hopes, wishes, dreams, and desires for and about the DUMBO community.
The purpose of this work is to intertwine the written hopes, wishes, dreams and desires of members of the DUMBO community visualizing them along the width of the wall on Front Street for all those who walk by. The collected written statements will be laser engraved on connected rectangular strips of variable length (as indicated in the photographs.) These statements will be attached to the wall at the connection points.
In order to celebrate the multicultural nature of the neighborhood it is important that languages other English are used- as on the PS22-K Fence project where Creole French and Spanish was incorporated into the project.
